Sony devices aggressively run their own power-saving feature, STAMINA mode, alongside Android's native Doze mode, which frequently interrupts background services.
Please make sure to configure the following 3 essential settings to ensure your battery notifications (low battery, high temperature, 80% charge, etc.) work perfectly!
1. Register as a Battery Optimization Exception (Recommended)
This is the most reliable way to prevent the system from forcing our app to sleep.
- Open the [Settings] app.
- Go to the [Battery] menu.
- Tap the [More (3-dot icon)] in the top right corner and select [Battery optimization].
- Note: On some Android versions, go to [Settings] > [Apps & notifications] > [Advanced] > [Special app access] > [Battery optimization].
- Change the top dropdown menu from 'Not optimized' to [All apps].
- Find and select [Our App Name] from the list.
- Select [Don't optimize] and tap [Done].
2. Check STAMINA Mode Settings
When STAMINA mode is enabled, background data and services are completely blocked when the screen is turned off.
- To turn off STAMINA mode: Go to [Settings] > [Battery] > [STAMINA mode] and switch it to [Off].
- If you must use STAMINA mode: Go to [Apps exempted from power-saving] within the STAMINA settings, and check [Our App Name] to add it as an exception.
3. Set App to 'Unrestricted' (Android 12 or Higher)
If you are using a newer Xperia device, please configure these additional permissions.
- Go to [Settings] > [Apps] > [See all apps] and select [Our App Name].
- Tap the [Battery] menu.
- Change the setting from 'Optimized' to [Unrestricted].
- In the [Mobile data & Wi-Fi] menu, turn both [Background data] and [Unrestricted data usage] to [ON].
- Go to the [Notifications] menu and ensure all notification permissions are fully enabled.
Once you have completed the setup, please close the app completely and reopen it (rebooting your device is highly recommended) for the changes to take full effect!
