HONOR Device Settings Guide

The following instructions are based on HONOR devices running MagicOS.

To ensure that the app can run properly in the background and that notifications or alarms work correctly, please check the following settings.

1. Allow Auto-launch and Background Activity

Go to:

Settings → Apps → App launch → [App Name]

On some devices, this setting may also be located under:

Optimizer → Battery → App launch → [App Name]

Turn Manage automatically OFF, then enable all of the following options:

• Auto-launch → Enable
• Secondary launch → Enable
• Run in background → Enable

These settings allow the app to start automatically and continue running in the background.

2. Disable Battery Optimization

Go to:

Settings → Battery optimization

You can also search for Battery optimization in the Settings app.

Find [App Name] in the app list and configure it so that battery optimization does not restrict the app.

Depending on your device, the option may appear as:

All apps → [App Name] → Don't allow

Battery optimization may restrict the app's background activity.

3. Check Power Saving Mode

Go to:

Settings → Battery

If the following features are enabled, we recommend turning them OFF:

• Power saving mode
• Ultra power saving mode

Power-saving features may restrict apps from running properly in the background.

4. Lock the App in Recent Tasks (Recommended)

Open the app and then open the Recent tasks screen.

Find the app and swipe down on the app preview.

When a Lock icon appears in the upper-right corner of the app preview, the app is locked.

This can help prevent the app from being closed when background apps are cleared.

5. Check Background Activity Settings

Some MagicOS versions may provide additional background activity settings.

Go to:

Settings → Apps → [App Name] → Battery

If you see Background activity, Run in background, or a similar option, make sure background activity is allowed.

If You Cannot Find These Settings

Menu names and locations may vary depending on the HONOR device model, Android version, and MagicOS version.

Try searching for the following keywords in the Settings app:

• App launch
• Auto-launch
• Run in background
• Battery optimization
• Power saving mode
• Background activity

In particular, search for App launch, turn off Manage automatically, and make sure all three options are enabled:

Auto-launch + Secondary launch + Run in background

Note: Some HONOR devices automatically manage background apps to reduce battery consumption. Therefore, background activity may still be restricted depending on the device model or MagicOS version.
