The following instructions are based on Google Pixel devices running Android 14 or later.
To ensure that the app can run properly in the background, please check the following settings.
1. Allow Background Battery Usage
Go to:
Settings → Apps → See all apps → [App Name] → App battery usage
If you see Allow background usage, make sure it is enabled.
Also, check that the app's background activity is not restricted by battery usage settings.
2. Check Battery Optimization
Go to:
Settings → Apps → [App Name] → App battery usage
If you see an option such as Optimized, check whether the app's background activity is being restricted.
If you experience problems with the app running in the background, disable battery optimization or configure the battery settings so that background activity is not restricted.
3. Check Battery Saver
Go to:
Settings → Battery → Battery Saver
If the app needs to run properly in the background, we recommend turning Battery Saver OFF while using the app.
When Battery Saver is enabled, Android may restrict background app activity.
If you are using Extreme Battery Saver, make sure the app is not being paused or restricted.
4. Check Automatic Pausing of Unused Apps
Go to:
Settings → Apps → [App Name] → Unused apps
If Pause app activity if unused is enabled, we recommend turning it OFF.
Android may restrict background activity and notifications for apps that have not been used for an extended period.
5. If You Are Using Data Saver
If Data Saver is enabled, please also check the following setting:
Settings → Network & internet → Data Saver → Unrestricted data
Make sure [App Name] is allowed to use background data without restrictions.
If You Cannot Find These Settings
Menu names and locations may vary depending on the Android version installed on your Google Pixel device.
